Managing Director, Ian Chang

Ian Chang graduated from the National University of Singapore with an Honours degree in Bachelor Laws in June 1994. He was placed overall 18th out of 394 candidates in the Postgraduate Practical Law Course in December 1994 and was called to the bar on 29th April 1995. Until April 2019, he has been in legal practice 24  years.

Ian is a senior member of the Bar and has been appointed as a Commissioner for Oaths since 2006 and a Notary Public since 2011.

Ian has also been an adjunct lecturer with Temasek Polytechnic for their Law courses from 2002 to 2011.

He also conducts lectures regularly for estate agents for their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) classes stipulated by the Council for Estate Agents.

Prior to setting up Averex Law Corporation, Ian was a director in charge of the conveyancing department of a Singapore law firm.

1. Conveyancing

Ian’s main area of practice is in real estate conveyancing which he started in 1999. Until 2013, he has 14 years of experience in the conveyancing practice.

He has vast experience in various aspects of conveyancing including:-

  • acting for sellers of both HDB and private residential properties
  • acting for sellers in commercial and industrial (including JTC) properties
  • acting for purchasers of both HDB and private residential properties
  • acting for purchasers of commercial and industrial (including JTC) properties
  • acting for owners in the refinancing of their properties
  • acting for banks in the mortgage and discharge of mortgage
  • acting for developers in the residential projects
  • acting for both landlords and tenants in the drafting of residential and commercial leases

Ian is supported by 3 highly experienced conveyancing clerks, all of whom has more than 5 years of conveyancing experience. The most senior conveyancing clerk has 32 years of conveyancing experience while the other 2 conveyancing clerks have 10 years of experience and 6 years of experience respectively.

Ian also conducts regular lectures and seminars for estate agents including the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses stipulated by the Council for Estate Agents.

2. Litigation

Apart from property-related work, Ian has also extensive experience in the area of civil and commercial litigation including property disputes, landlord and tenant disputes, debt collection, commission claims, contested probate and administration claims and matrimonial matters.

He has acted for multi-national corporations, listed companies, private companies, small and medium enterprises and individuals in their debt management and recovery.
